Residency in Basel, Switzerland
From 2 July 2018 I’ll be undertaking the Artsource Global City Residency 2018 at Atelier Mondial, Basel, Switzerland. My time will be spent researching and developing an interactive video work or series of works, possibly with extensions into virtual reality (VR), based on the geology of the Alps.
This project is a kind of sequel to my 2015 interactive video work, Accretion Room, based on the geology of the Pilbara and the probable biological origin of its banded iron formations. Where the Pilbara is unimaginably ancient — dating between 2.5 to 3.5 billion years old — the Alps are (geologically) very recent, having only started to form in the late Cretaceous, around 65 million years ago.
The residency runs for four months, until the end of October 2018.
I’m posting regular updates to my journal and micro.blog.
